Production Log 6

This week I completed the editing for both of my trailers; this includes the linear trailer and the non-linear trailer with flashbacks. We had decided on a final title, so I added the title, credits and logos and watched the two trailers that I had created. When comparing the different trailers of different people in my group, it was interesting to see how we had all used editing techniques differently. Although we all used the same footage and the same editing program, we managed to make our trailers look very different. In evaluating the process, I found that my editing skills have greatly improved as a result and I feel much better about using final cut pro. During Week 5 Not much effects have been added to the film this is to ensure that the audience can understand this trailer and its chronological order. An institutional logo has been added to the film. I have chosen to use Film 4 as they frequently promote and feature young film makers, therefore after doing some research Film 4 are most likely to feature my film. If my film trailer could have been made with better quality and more money a might have added logos such as Universal to my film instead of Film 4.

During the 4th week we filmed all of the scenes we have planned for the film and have almost finished editing everything together. Within the beginning stage of this editing process I have already used several different editing techniques to make specific scenes more suspenseful.   These particular scenes were created to add suspense within the film and ensure the film could be perceived as Murder Mystery Trailer.

During week three my group and I decided to change the entire film idea, this was a group made decision that was made because we werent 100% happy with the plan that we first came up with for the film. We changed our film idea from 'Lockdown' to 'The Collector'. We also changed our documents like the production schedule and the shooting script. We will hopefully complete this as a group by the end of this week and have begun filming scenes we have prepared already.

First week my teacher put us into groups I was put into a group with Ayman, Bruna and Rasidatu. Firstly we were instructed to make mind maps that covered what we would involve in our murder mystery trailers. we then discussed as a group the traditional stereotypes in a murder mystery film and what traditional lighting and editing techniques are used in a trailer. We also practiced graphic match and match on action using final cut pro.
